Lead in Our Water

There has been a growing concern over the years about the presence of lead in our drinking water. Consuming anything above 0.01 mg per litre of lead is extremely dangerous. It can lead to health issues such as problems with mental and physical development in children, brain and kidney damage and even raised blood pressure levels.

In Australia, this is considered a rare occurrence since copper pipes in the 1930s widely replaced lead pipes.

However, lead can still get into our water supply via the following methods:

Australia currently does not have a national or significant local governing body that monitors the amount of lead contamination in our water supplies. It is up to customers to be aware of the quality of plumbing parts they are installing into their homes.

Plumbing supply manufacturers also need to be proactive and start removing all lead-based soldering elements in their production process.

Are you concerned about your possible lead in your plumbing and want to replace them with lead free products?
